Autobiography

I am a professional web designer, computer scientist, and theatre artist. I graduated from Mount Holyoke College in May 2008 with an BA in Computer Science and Theatre Arts.

As a web designer, I code in XHTML and CSS using Notepad or a text editor. I favor structured, functional pages that have clear, consistent navigation. I have worked extensively with metadata and search engine technology, so I also implement site structure that optimizes search engine positions.

As a computer scientist, I focus primarily on large data sets and processing, specifically in intelligent information retrieval and data mining. I have contributed research to the Text Retrieval Conference (TREC) in 2008 and 2009, and I have done independent research in Passage Retrieval, or searching for relevant passages in large data collections.

As a theatre artist, I work in directing, dramaturgy, and stage management, and my eventual goal is to become a professional director. I have also worked as a props master and a board operator.

I believe good humor and patience are key to any endeavor's fruition, and I believe that balance is important to success.
