This site is too small to cover the diversity the entirety of the topic of the Italian Holocaust; further, it assumes that there is a general knowledge of Jewish and Italian history as well as some basic information on the Jewish relgion. Because this site is meant to be focused on one topic, it is better to provide recommended reading for those who wish to further explore one of these topics.

Jewish Religion

While there are various books and web sites about the Jewish religion, there are a few more concise and precise sites out there. Judaism 101 provides and excellent base for research and basic questions about Judaism. For a shorter version, Religious Tolerance has a page about Judaism which seems more objective. It is very important when learning about Judaism to know that there are various sects within the religion. Some groups are more conservative that others, and this page explores the similarities and differences between the sects.

Jewish-Italian History

Cecil Roth's The History of the Hews of Italy is a detailed and lengthy book that contains a lot of information about the history of Jews in Italy from early ages through to Mussolini. This book provides an excellent overview of the history of the Italian Jews politically, socially, and culturally.

For those looking for a more concise and political view of the Jews in Italy, The Italy and the Jews Timeline presents solid facts in outline form. This proved to be a great resource for this web page as well as a good extra reading brush-up for those who are not farmiliar with the Jews in Italy.

There are also some specific web sites about the Italian Holocaust. ITALY AND THE HOLOCAUST, Holocaust Encyclopedia: ITALY, and Italian Resistance to the Holocaust all provide ample information on the topic.

Personal Stories from the Holocaust

There are famous personal stories from the Holocaust, but there are also less known books written especially about the Italian Holocaust. October 16, 1943 and Eight Jews by Giacomo Debenedetti is one of the most prominant stories of the Italian Holocaust.

Other

World War II is central to knowing more about the Holocaust, and Nazism is also an important thing to explore in relation to the Italian Holocaust. These other resources reflect the need for people to read more in-depth on Germany's Holocaust, World War II in general, and information on Nazism. Given the vast amount of information on this, the following are all recommended:
